I have just purchased a Behringer uca202 sound card and am purchasing the ECm8000 mic. I will be just trying to get my bass response right in my room. I'm running XP on an IBM thinkpad. My pre pro is the Onkyo SC885. What else will I need to do this project right? I used to have the BFD 1124 and now just using the Audyessy in the Onkyo. Do I set back to factory defaults or run Audysses first then run tests? I will get another BFD if peaks or nulls are to bad. Just need a little direction. Thanks!
If all you’re doing is measuring your subwoofer, then you don’t need the mic. A simple Radio Shack SLM will do, along with the sound card you mentioned.
Sounds like with the addition of an inexpensive Radio Shack SPL meter and REW software the basics are covered. I have done a little work with my HT system and think that trying to optimize without Audyssey or equalization is a good place to start. This allows you to gain experience with your room and sound equipment and REW output data. Then when you have a good understanding of what you need you can pursue sound treatments and additional automatic or manually created equalization tools.
I have the RS Spl meter so I guess I'm set. I'll just down load the corrections for it and take measurements. Of course I'll send it to you for input. Thanks Wayne!
