bfd and rew question

I have a strange thing happening. I set up rew and the bfd and did some measurments and just tried to get familiar with the tools. Things seemed to be working out. Then I wanted to experiment and this is what I did. I took the bfd out of the loop. I wanted to start by using my avr's audyssey program as a start and use rew to see what it's doing. It didnt look to bad actually. Then I was going to fine tune with the bfd. So I put the bfd back in and pressed the in/out button(flashing) and assumed I was in bypass mode, straight in-out. I then took another measurement to see if my graphs changed and they did, a lot. But no filters are being applied. Why would this be? My gain messed up maybe, or maybe I didnt calibrate the sound card correctly?

Another odd thing is when I do a measurement and get a graph and then generate a waterfall of it the peaks on each are different? They look similar but the peaks line up at different freq.

Yep, many people with auto eq do this...

Green LED on=filters engaged.
Green LED off=filters disengaged.
Green LED flashing=Filters disengaged, with VU meters displaying input level rather than output level.

With the in/out LED flashing or off, the BFD offers unity gain. There would be no modification to the signal or its level....

Move the slider to a single slice of 1. It will be the same as the frequency response graph. The peaks will line up exactly the same..
