SPL Meter Calibration

I just started trying to use REW and I am having a problem correcting the measured response for the SPL meter error. I am using the Galaxy 140 SPL meter and I downloaded the correction values file to load into the Settings-Mic/Meter-Calibration tab. The file appears to have loaded successfully. I also checked the file itself to make sure the values looked reasonable, and they do. However, the 'corrected' response curve is identical to the uncorrected curve, as though all the correction values are zero. I know I am overlooking something obvious, but I just can't seem to find the answer. Could one of you REW gurus please point me in the right direction?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Paul

Edit: The Mic/Meter correction curve displays correctly on the graph, indicating that the correction values are successfully loaded.

I suspect you're assuming that when you removed the meter calibration file that the response curve should change, and thereby you think there's a problem.

The fact is that to apply or remove a mic/meter or a soundcard calibration for an REW measurement after it has been taken, you must simply load or clear the cal data as required and press the Apply Windows button (invoked when you click the IR Windows ICON) to recalculate the frequency response with a new calibration file.

Re: SPL Meter Calibration

The curve labelled "corrected" on the Filter Adjust graph is to show the effects of any defined filters on the measured response, it will be the same as the measured curve until some filters are applied.

Re: SPL Meter Calibration

brucek and JohnM,

Thank you for your responses. I knew it was going to be something simple. I was confused by the 'corrected' curve under the filter adjust tab, assuming it was the raw measurement with the mic/meter corrections applied, to compare against the measured curve with no corrections. I reran the measurement with and without the cal file loaded and I see the difference now. Thank you very much for your advice! As I get deeper into REW I will probably be back!
