Yeah, looks like a good job. You'll find that any filters above the crossover (for example, a 100Hz filter with an 80Hz crossover), aren't very effective since the sub level is quite a bit down by that time in relation to the mains signal. The best procedure is to equalize the sub with filters up to the crossover and then add the mains and see what you need to do with respect to phase and filters to clear up the crossover area..

Re: BFD 2496 setup and graphs

tried adding mains now I have a real mess on my hands. can't seem to get near the flat response that I had with just the sub. wondering maybe I'm doing something wrong? another thing I can't get more than 8 peq filters set nothing I try gets any more than 8. according to the manual I should be able to get all 20.

Often adding the mains gets some irregularity, but only an octave or so above and below the crossover frequency. It shouldn’t introduce wholesale problems. Maybe you should post a graph, so we can see what's going on.

Not sure what you mean. If you’re using MIDI, you’ll only get the filters REW recommends. You certainly don’t need 20 filters. I can’t see why you would need even the eight; you have a fairly nice and easy-to equalize response there. Looks to me like 4 or 5 filters would be all you need.

Wayne

Re: BFD 2496 setup and graphs

Thanks Wayne I have since figured out how to get all 20 filters on the 2496. it appears that the first 8 filters need to set at 0 than all 20 filters are available for use. 2nd not exactly sure what happened when I added my mains to the equation but the results looked terrible. Almost like I was in a different room. so I did the only thing that I could think of and reset all the filters and started over. much better I will post a graph soon with the results. interesting thou now I have quite a few more filters than before not really sure if thats what I need or did I just go overboard with the filters.
