| Tone generator... no tone??? Happy Holidays! So I've been using with success REQ and had a need/desire to use the tone generator. I can select the tone/sweep and click play and I get nothing. Everything else is/has worked in this program. No issues hearing/recording sweeps etc. Any ideas? | |||

| Re: Tone generator... no tone??? Could it be that the frequency is too low or too high for your system to be reproduced? Typically, 20Hz is too low for most speakers to be audible. Try out something like 500Hz, maybe it will work better. Otherwise, check the RMS Level dB window. Maybe the value is too low ![]() Martin Logan Vista | Swans F1.1C | SVS PC-Ultra | SlimDevices Transporter | Bladelius Tyr | Yamaha RX-V1800 | Denon DVD-2930 | Klipsch RS-52 | Sharp XV-Z3000 | Adeo Greyvision Plano 16:9 100" | |||

| Re: Tone generator... no tone??? That is weird. Here's a stupid question -- how are you doing this? Do you hit the "Generator" button, which pops up another window, then select your option, and then hit the green "Play" button? And you get nothing while everything else works? Yeah, without JohnM stepping in, I'd suggest a reinstall -- but REW is usually pretty solid, and is not plagued with issues like this... -- Otto | |||

| Re: Tone generator... no tone??? Do you have another PC you could try this test on? I agree with Otto, this should work when everything else works fine. Check all your settings once more, maybe there is something that you have missed ![]() Martin Logan Vista | Swans F1.1C | SVS PC-Ultra | SlimDevices Transporter | Bladelius Tyr | Yamaha RX-V1800 | Denon DVD-2930 | Klipsch RS-52 | Sharp XV-Z3000 | Adeo Greyvision Plano 16:9 100" Last edited by jerome : 12-28-07 at 11:40 AM. | |||

| Re: Tone generator... no tone??? The PLAY button is a bit confusing on the generator (is it on or off - who knows)? Other than that, if the sweep works, then the generator works........ | |||

| Re: Tone generator... no tone??? Yep. Hit the gen button, up it pops, select a tone hip the play and nothing. It's like that particular window sends the signal somewhere else. Is it the same sample rate as the tone sweeps when doing measurements (which by the way work fine)? No other pc to test it on. | |||

REW uses the generator itself to play the sweeps when it makes measurements, you will see it in use if you leave the generator open when you make a measurement. Do you hear something if you select "Meas. Sweep" as the signal type? | ||||

| Re: Tone generator... no tone??? This is too weird. I left the generator window open as said above and when I go to measure or check levels, I see it activate the generator and I get sound. If I close the measure window and try the sweep I get nothing. ?????? | |||

| Re: Tone generator... no tone??? Just an fyi if anyone else experiences the same thing. If I open the spl meter and hit calibrate then ok, the generator works as it should. If I don't do that each time I open req it acts as described above. I'm assuming this is the norm. | |||
