| New PB-12 plus/2 graph Ignore the blue line as it's the unequalized response from my pb-10. The pink line is the FR of my new pb-12plus2. I had to make a couple of changes from the pb-10 set up but not too many. I'll probably still try to flatten it out a bit more. How many filters do you guys use?? This set up I'm using ten which from my reading seems to be a lot of filters. I'm open to any suggestions. | |||

| | Re: New PB-12 plus/2 graph I'm using 10 on my current set of filters but I typically use 12. I left out a bit of boost on this one so that eliminated 2 filters I'd normally have. That one looks a little flat but you might like it. I'd try a house curve too. You'll probably see a few more problem areas with REW if you decide to give it a try. | |||

| Re: New PB-12 plus/2 graph My feeling is that you have introduced an appreciable amount of cut. You are reducing the signal over 20dB to the area between ~45Hz and 63Hz. To compensate for this you've had to increase the volume of the sub and consequently severely lowered its headroom. Have you tested it at high volumes to test for headroom? brucek | |||

| Re: New PB-12 plus/2 graph Brucek, I see your point, I'm pretty new to this so I didn't look at it as cutting it 20db in that 45hz-63hz range. I was just trying to introduce a house curve. Do you suggest decreasing the amount of cut I did across the whole frequency range to bring up the levels? When you say headroom, what exactly am I listening for? When I re-calibrated the speaker levels after I eq'd the sub I did have to increase the gain on the sub from about 1/3 to just under 1/2. As far as a test I played the depth charge scene from U571, at about -25db on the volume control overall sound was quite loud and the bass was enough I could feel the impact thru the couch and the pictures on the walls were rattling around. thanks, Mike | |||

If you've used all the headroom in an amplifier, the signal will clip and you'll hear distortion. But in most retail subs, they control this and as such the signal is compressed when it gets to that level. If the subwoofer trim level on your processor seems reasonable and as you say, the sub amp is only at ~1/2, then you're fine. I was just raising a flag. brucek | ||||
