Calibrating Soundcard- Something isnt right

I'm about to pull what little hair I have left out....

I purchased a Soundblaster Live USB soundcard and I am trying to "Calibrate my Soundcard" per the REW Guide.... Keep in mind that this is all new to me so it could be I've just missed something very simple...

I have an output running directly to an input and I've been running the calibration but I'm getting a message stating that the "highest DB is -72.2 which is too low".... I double checked my settings and I do not have any "monitor recording" options selected (per the REW guide)

The only way I can get what appears to be a normal test is by selecting "what you hear" in the Input mode vs. "Line In". The graph is perfectly flat except for a slight dip at the beginning but something is telling me this is correct....a perfectly flat line because nothing is 'being heard" when the soundcard is looped from output to input?

Anyone got any ideas?

thanks
Matt

Good! What kind of calibration results do you get for your sound card ?

Can you please tell me more about what you did? This is the EXACT problem that I've run into, but can't figure out where to change the "Front" speaker out or the "phones" for my Out.

Thanks,
Nick

I took my RCA, attached my Y stereo 1/8 spliter (used one side) and placed in the "Front" connection or the "Phono" connection on my soundcard it worked for me. The front is located right beside the "Line-In" and the "phono" is on the front of the soundcard. I then ran the RCA to my receiver and used one of my analog inputs..(eg phono). Make sure the input setting on REW is correct (left or right)..try both

good luck

I was just wondering if you could post a screenshot of your sound card calibration. I might be interested in buying one of these too...
