Re: My first graph....

Moved 1 of the subs around, and here's the 2nd attempt.

Re: My first graph....

Any particular reason you’re using three mismatched subs? That’s usually not a good thing.

Wayne

Re: My first graph....

Wow, pretty good for just moving one of the subs arround. Looks like all you need to do is tame a few bumps. Now if I understand the HSU MBM concept, is the MBM connected to just the HO or is it tied into both the HO and the MKII?

Well, the MBM and the VFT3 HO w/Turbo are designed to be used together.

I previously owned the VFT3 MKII, and decided to replace it with the HO and MBM. Haven't sold the MKII yet so I decided to try all 3 of them together.

Re: My first graph....

Hi Wayne,
He has three subs but effectively they are two. The HSU MBM (mid base module) is fed the upper side of the frequency band and I'm guessing the HO is fed the lower. The VTF3 MKII is the wild card I would guess. I am surprised the graph isn't all over the place though.
I wonder what the freq decay charts would look like?

You are correct John.

The MBM is getting everything from 80hz down to 50hz. The HO and the MKII are both being fed everything from 60hz and below.

Re: My first graph....

So, does anyone have any feedback on these graphs? This is my first outing with REW and the 1124p.

Thanks,
Nick

Re: My first graph....

In my opinion, it would be more useful to also have measurement for your mains+subs because you may be able to get a much nicer curves for frequencies over 50Hz with your mains.
For instance, the 85Hz problem could disappear when using the mains.

Just my 2 cents

I'll run a new one with the mains included tonight when I get home.

I’d like to see one with just the MBM and VFT3 HO, since you’re selling the other one.

Wayne

Re: My first graph....

I think that you should use the 2 channels of the DSP: One for each SUB. Make a graph with one sub, another with the second one and let's see the results.

After equalizing each channel run them together and, finaly, add the mains.

A lot of fun

The FR graphs look too smooth. Can you check if curve smoothing was set to "NONE"? For low frequency work, you would want to reveal maximum details of the peaks and dips.

I was originally planing to sell the MKII. But thought I would try the 3 of them together first. Now that I have the 3 of them hooked up, I like them I may just keep all 3 subs.
I need a full day to just play with them, and thats the tough part. I work a full time job, plus own my own business, so getting a full day all to myself with my HT equiptment is a tough task!

I need to try just the HO and MBM together to see what it would be like if I sell the MKII. That will be my next project. I was planning on playing with everything last night when I got home, but it didn't work out that way. I had to take care of the business first, and by the time I got a chance to play, it was too late.

I will check that the next time I get to play with them. I do remember playing with the "smoothing" effect, and it looked very unnatural, so I set it back. I was experimenting with the REW program. I believe that this is exactly what the REW program heard, and no effects added. But I will double check when I get a chance.
