Suggestion: Temp graphs

Hi!

I'm in the process of placing room treatments, and I'm doing alot of sweeps in alot of different positions. Most of these sweeps are discarded after looking at them briefly. It would be awesome to make one curve 'master' or reference, and do temporary sweeps overlaid. Then the next sweep would overwrite the previous, but the master sweep stays. Is something like this possible?

Yep, just use the All Measured tab to overlay any measures you take.........

Turn them on or off with the checkboxes.

Or you can wait for the next version of REW and use the RTA feature to do it in real time and watch the effect live..

That's the way I have been doing it, but with so many sweeps, deleting them becomes tedious... Yeah, I'm lazy...

The new RTA, how accurate will it be, ie how many bands? TrueRTA is not really accurate enough for low frequency work.

Well, several things affect the resolution. The FFT Length affects the resolution along with the type of windowing you choose. REW produces its own periodic noise signals for the RTA, so you are able to choose a rectangular window to get the best resolution. It does allow external signals though. It also allows real time THD and THD+N results. It allows a fractional octave span down to 1/48th octave and a good selection of averaging.

Here's a quick sweep measure of my office sub, and then with the mic in the same position I turned on the RTA. You can see they're fairly close. It's handy to have the measure on the screen and then the RTA overlayed and then move the mic around to see the real time change....

Re: Suggestion: Temp graphs

That looks like it would do the job! Got an approximate date for this update?

1/24 octave for trueRTA is a little coarse, but I guess I can use it to narrow down problemlocations and then measure accurately with REW.
