Denon Crossover Dropoff...?

Hi all,

I hope this is in the correct forum, as it does pertain to REW settings. I don't remember where, but I read that my Denon AVR-2105 has a crossover drop-off of 24db/octave. So, that is what I have been using in REW. This morning, I read in another post that Denon typically used 24 db/octave low pass and 12 db/octave high pass, so now I am confused. Does this mean that the roll-off of the mains is at 12db/octave and the sub roll-off is 24dB/octave? In other words, does this mean that the sub volume would be attenuated by 24dB at 160Hz (assuming a 80Hz crossover), and the mains by 12dB at 40Hz? Am I correct in using 24dB/octave in REW, or do I have it backwards? Thanx!

Peace... Vader

Yes, but the natural mains speaker roll off is about -12dB/octave for a resultant of -24dB total...

Re: Denon Crossover Dropoff...?

Thanx, Bruce! Using a 24db/octave setting in REW, I have a ruler flat response, and was starting to worry that maybe I should have EQ'd to a 12db/octave roll-off. I'm thinking I may have to up my crossover to 100 Hz once I integrate the new Panny 50 Blu Ray player (it is fixed at 100Hz... grrrr), and may have to re-EQ...
