Full range BFD/REW

Has anyone ever connected a BFD between a cd/dvd player and used REW to integrate your front channels and sub on two channel music. I also have a HD DVD player with analog outputs. I also thought about connecting the BFD between the front L&R outputs of my HD player and the inputs on my reciever, then I could set my reciever up as no sub and full range fronts. I would then split the BFD output to my reciever and sub inputs. What do you think?

How would you control the sub volume - it wouldn't track with the receiver volume?

You would have the advantage that the BFD would receive a full line level at all times, as opposed to its input being at the mercy of a volume control. On the other hand, it would certainly be source specific equalization.

I wouldn't do it with an 1124, but perhaps a FBQ 2496 would be OK.
