Using REW for individual driver measurements?

So, I've got a 4-way active system using a PC-based DSP crossover:

http://www.thuneau.com/allocator.htm

I already use REW for eq of a sub in a separate HT system, and have now been attempting to use it for individual driver measurements that can be imported into the above-mentioned program. REW has the option to export a measurement as a text file, which I then open and remove all the header information from, so that I'm left with just two columns of data, frequency and SPL. I then rename this to .frd (standard file format for frequency response data), but for some reason the crossover program won't open these files.

Anyone know of a good way to get .frd files out of REW? Or are there any other free/cheap measurement programs you could recommend?

Thanks,
Desmond

Isn't the only difference between an .frd and a .txt file the phase information (freq magnitude phase)? I don't know the impact of the phase information, but if you simply want the program to read the .txt file, add a 0.000 to each entry and then rename the file to frd. You could use excel to add the zeros for you....

That's a good idea, I'll try it tonight.

Has anyone else used REW for this kind of thing? I'd be interested to hear any tips or tricks people might have for getting good, accurate measurements.

You can export the impulse response and then process the data using Praxis...not sure if Praxis can help you out with the file format, but it might be worth looking into...

You could also extract the phase information using the Frequency Response Combiner provided by the FRD Consortium. That will build your minimum phase information. Google will find it.
