| My Graph Hi All I've been a member for quite some time but this is my first post. Attached is a graph of my before and after REW/BFD equalisation. Obviously I have a big room mode at 40hz, but no amount of repositioning could get it any better than the yellow trace. I originally used all 12 filters to equalise and it sounded pretty good to my old ears (but with a room mode like that I guess it could only sound better!) After reading Wayne's excellent post on minimal eq I recalculated and ended up with just 4 filters and the difference is staggering. I am now well pleased with the sound. My question is: do you think the dips at 29hz and 63hz will be too noticeable? I can find no way of reducing the 40hz peak without increasing the 29hz dip. Thanks for reading, thanks for all the help I've found on this forum and thanks in advance for ny help with my query. Dave ![]() | ||||

| Re: My Graph Hi Dave, Nice to see you posting and trying REW. ![]() You should be fine. The 63 Hz dip is not significant enough to notice. Most music doesn’t have much happening below ~30 Hz (35 Hz is the lowest fundamental of a 5-string bass guitar), and action movies have exaggerated bass that often has significant boost below 30-40 Hz. I.e., the program material will for the most part make up what you’re lacking below 30 Hz (if you’re using the just-out latest version of REW, it has a real-time feature that will let you evaluate that as you watch a movie). So any way you cut it, I think you’ll be happy with what you have now. As brucek said, you've eliminated the primary problem. Regards, Wayne | ||||
