it's kind of like emachines and gateway computers having power supply issues and when they burn out they normaly kill the motherboard. when I worked at the computer repair shop we saw about 20 of them a week come threw with the same issue and there are more repair shops in the area it just made me wonder how many of them were failing a day. a lot of people don't know that emachines and gateway are the same company. It didn't matter the model number of computer. They all used the same brand of power supply. bestec. we were selling that brand also and stopped when we had a lot coming back. | |||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems There is obviously a common failure mode here. The point is that we really don't know the numbers and speculation does no one any good. Let's try to stick to the facts and not add to hysteria. ...the soulshine, it's better than sunshine. It's better than moonshine. It's sure better than rain. | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems I have a 46" with the same type problems. I was escited about this fix and took it apart today and put in the clamp. I put it back together and I can't get it to work. When I turn on the tv it powers up well and I can see the menus (I do still have the green screen) but after about 2-5sec it turns off and the lamp and temp/stand-by lights flash constantly. They will also flash if I plug in the unit and wait for a few seconds. Thoughts??? Also, before taking it apart, HDMI still worked, however the screen would just go black and then power back up sometimes. Any thoughts on this? | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems The nature of many of these problems seems to be bad connections on the BGA type DNIE chip. Adding pressure may help, or too much could maybe make it worse, it is hard to know. Verify your work and make sure that you got everything back where it belongs and did not damage nor leave any connections unfinished. There are some connectors that can be placed in the wrong location. ...the soulshine, it's better than sunshine. It's better than moonshine. It's sure better than rain. | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems I just took my Samsung DLC hlr5667 in for repair and they said the digital mainboard needs to be replaced. It will cost me what I paid for the tv. Has the fix for putting pressure on the DNIE chip worked for most people and if so can anyone provide better pictures as to where exactly the chip is? The repair shop said that fix will only work for a couple of times and then it will stop working again, I don't know if they are just trying to get me to paid the 400 to fix it or what. The issue we were having is the TV would turn on and then shut off 30 seconds later. It would never stay up long enough to do anything. Anyone else have this issue? If so, how did you fix it! I appreciate any help - we are kind of desperate here to save some money! | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems so far it hasn't worked long term. You can replace the digital board yourself. and it cost 188 dollars after the 50 dollar core charge. and it can be bought from www.samsungparts.com . the hardest part is setting things up in the service menu if you don't know what you are doing. but if you take your time most figure it out. I was thinking of making a youtube video showing people how to remove the digital board. If I had my new board I would make a youtube video showing people how to set things up in the service menu. | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems Does anyone know what the tv is trying to tell me when it shuts down and flashes lamp and temp/standby constantly. Otherwise my tv fires up well and the picture looks good. It just won't stay on anymore | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems it could be over heating. have you opened it up and cleaned the fans. to get to the light engine fan you have to remove the light engine. there is also a fan on the dmd board and a fan over by the digital board. other things can make this happen too. like bad solder joints. could be anything to tell the true. I have heard of bad lamps doing this also. were they turn on but after so long they turn off. | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems According to the manual it needs a lamp, IIRC. Have you checked the meaning of this state in your manual? ...the soulshine, it's better than sunshine. It's better than moonshine. It's sure better than rain. | ||||

| Re: HLR6167WAX/XAA Digital board problems I too have the hrl5067 samsung dlp tv. It was working fine till I decided to use the tv as powerpoint viewer at my sons Cub Scout meeting on tuesday. I noticed that when I got there and powered it up that there was green patchwork showing on the screen. Once I plugged into the pc connection the tv worked fine. Brought the tv back home and reconnected all the inputs and both tuners (cable and ant.) and all the other extra components back up. I got the same green patchwork with Cable, Ant, Video 1&2. The inputs for PC, HDMI, and Video 3 all work fine. Am I going to have to order this digital board that I hear everyone talking about? or is this a different issue? When I watch an HD video feed the green is not as noticeable but is still there. Any suggestions Thanks Mark Cotter | ||||
