Anyone with the new 65" ES8000 series set experiencing problems with vertical banding?

From what little I've been able to find out this is only affecting 65" models & also affecting 65" models of a Sony (don't have the model of the Sony, but supposedly it uses the same glass)

Approx. 30 days, but from discussions with other owners of the 65" display the problem is rampant across them all, without exception, to a greater or lesser extent.. Only the 65" is affected, not the 60 or smaller. Owners of some 65" Sony XBR & Bravias are also reporting it, again only in the 65" iteration, not in smaller displays.

Demanding a replacement is only recommended if the problem is very noticeable, which fortunately in most cases is not. Maybe only 1 in 10 is really bad. Where it is easily seen is most often only in solid backgrounds, ie, white and bright blue, less noticeable in solid red. If you want to see it in its worst manifestation, throw in a calibration disk. Increasing the static contrast setting to any value 94 or above mitigates it, but enabling dynamic contrast has no effect.

In normal viewing the problem is seldom seen, unless you go looking for it, in which case it will become a constant vexation. Best advice I've heard is "don't go looking for it" because unless pointed out to you, you generally won't notice, but once you do notice then it seems you forever do thereafter.
