| Base plate for subwoofer I've been mulling over how to do a baseplate for my dual downfiring subwoofer, will a couple of sheets of .75" mdf with the top sheet rounded over with a 3/4" roundover bit look ok if it's just an inch wider than the enclosure? | |||

| Re: Base plate for subwoofer That should look fine, you don't have to have a base plate, you could go with 3 or 4 legs if you wanted. I did one that way... http://www.garagehobbies.com/tempest.aspx | |||

| Re: Base plate for subwoofer Mine never moved an ounce... I doubt any driver could produce enough of a pressure wave to actually move the subwoofer. Now if we are talking vibration then the enclosure isn't heavy enough Mine weighed in about 150 pounds. Any subwoofer enclosure constructed well enough will weight over 100 pounds which should keep it from ever moving. I've never had one move a bit. | |||

| Re: Base plate for subwoofer I believe Andrew Pratt's sealed 3ft^3 Tumult driven with 800 watts could walk, but it took a hefty crank of the 'give er' dial. I expext more weight from my dual sealed when complted, but more output as well. | |||

| Re: Base plate for subwoofer I have an Avalanche 15 downfiring in 4.5 ^3 sealed and mine has never moved once even at high volume. It's mounted on a a 3/4" baseplate. Only running 500 watts through it though. A baseplate helps a lot when you have to reposition a heavy sub. | |||

| Re: Base plate for subwoofer For base plates to look in proportion they need to be more than an inch larger in dia. than the sub...though it's sort of subjective. Try sketching out a couple sizes on paper to see what proportion looks good. No floor plate for me... but mine weigh well < 100lbs...won't be sliding it around, but lifting from table top. Quote:
