Here's a little progress:

If you find anything wrong, it was Rodny's fault...

The next one you build, you should put speakers in it...........

Why does this remind me of the "sawing the lady in half" magic trick?

I don't know about a lady, but we've actually been discussing putting speakers in there... I promise!

Would one on each end of the inside portion of the port be good enough? Maybe firing them out?

Yeah, right on. Never thought of that, but it sounds pretty good to me.

Looks great so far, but I'm also a bit confused. Wouldn't it have been much easier to make the driver cutouts before assembling the back, bottom, and sides? Are you now considering getting away from downfiring? If possible, I'd stick to downfiring.

Re: Dual RL-p15 D2 LLT Sub Project...

We 100% still plan on downfiring the drivers... We started to cut out for the sub, which we will double up the bottom to 1.5" thick as well, but we were struggling trying to figure out exactly where we wanted the cutouts and wanted to make sure we got the braces spaced accordingly... so we decided to go ahead and install the braces first. It shouldn't be an issue to cutout for the driver though... it should actually be easier with our shop setup being less than idea for this size box.

Wow impressive looking sub but a bit small don't ya think.

I can well imagine the amount of work (not to mention the tons of MDF dust) that went into routing those braces.Nice work gentlemen.

We need to recycle the dust to make a new 4x8 sheet of MDF

Re: Dual RL-p15 D2 LLT Sub Project...

Yeah, we got the other bottom pieces ready and the driver holes cut out. We got the support legs cut and attached to the bottom, but we'll obviously hold off on attaching the very bottom plate until we get the drivers installed. Rodny was going to work on it some more between now and Saturday when we hope to prime the box.

Very nice work.

If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast!
If you don't have REW, get it now!

Due to the unique shape, that looks like it won't end up being TOO difficult to carry. Rodny does some very nice work

Re: Dual RL-p15 D2 LLT Sub Project...

I dunno, I think steve nn is the speediest. I heard a legend about him designing, building, and having the sub playing in his room in a single day. This was while he had one arm in a sling, his house was being fumigated, his only tools were a hacksaw and drill, and it was on the day of his brother's wedding....and HE was the best man! Well ok, he had some wood glue too

Re: Dual RL-p15 D2 LLT Sub Project...

How thoughtful of Rodney to put such nicely radiused handholds at each end.

The enlightened MDF sculptor blends form with function.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, of course.

Will the earth move for you, Sonnie?
