My Gosh!!!! ran some 15-20hZ test tones through the beast tonight, thought I was going to lose my front window, Everything it the house was vibrating, My sons hamsters two rooms over woke up and were looking around like what the &^%^&%#^????? my wifes pictures and mirrors were shaking, the drinks in our glasses did the Jurasic Park thing, Its really unbelievable what this setup will do, Going to get my cleanbox this weekend and Mod it and see what it will really do!

Re: Sound Splinter RL-p18 Giveaway build thread

Not really, I've got to pick up a meter, it is so different from car audio, the low freq really plays tricks on you, I know at times it was approaching the pain threshhold so I had to back it down, heheh, had to stuff a sock in the bedroom door, my wife was actually trying to block it out, thought the door was going to come off the hinges.

So you actually built it!! What a unique and powerful icon! Congratulations on your original vision and seed of an idea and the quick intense follow through to completion. Let no man or material stand in YOUR way.
Just remember as you apply the finishing touch to the outside surface, the white limestone finish on the pyramids of Egypt did not withstand the rigours of time.
Thank you so much for the compliment, I can't take all the credit, I drew so much inspiration from everyone here, there are so many visonary and inovative people here at the shack it makes it easy to be creative.

Also, with Sonnies permission, I would like to write a thread with building hints and materials lists and suppliers for that tool or material for the new DIY speakerbuilder, everyone could add in there favorite tools or tips to make it a little less stressfull for the beginer.
Duh huh, I see you've allready posted a tools thread Sonnie, sorry about that!

Definitely pick up a meter and download RoomEQ Wizard. Moving it a foot or two here or there can make a big difference and that program will make it really easy to see which spot is best.

Have you popped in any of the bass classics yet? Kinda makes you want to rewatch all your movies to hear what you've been missing

Re: Sound Splinter RL-p18 Giveaway build thread

I've been able to catch a couple movies Steve, The haunting was intense, The 300 was awsome, as well as bits and pieces of the Starwars movies I've passed by, does add a whole new realm to movies, I remember watching the last (third) Star wars epic at a really good theater and just being overwhelmed at the sound and video, I may only have a 42" LCD to watch it on, but the sound is THERE!
When the next Spiderman movie comes out on DVD were having a viewing party with a few friends, ought to be a blast!

When I get my SPL meter I'll pick everyones brains on using Room EQ.

LOL, it reminded me of my days on a locked ward. I jokingly asked him to remove it. He politely complied.
I'm passed all that anger I could never explain as a young teenger. I never have those ugly thoughts of sharp points digging into human flesh, the spurting of blood streams saturating my t shirt and blue jeans anymore. I've moved on, outgrown those activities and now I explore more furtive grounds . . . . .

What X-over freqs should I be using on this sub? I've switched from 80 to 100 hZ and there is an audible boost in volume, kick drums hit in the chest more now!

Frequencies over 80Hz tend to be quite localizable - something you don't want. I'd use 80Hz or less....

Hey, nothing wrong with that, same here. I'v seen two LCD projectors (one top of the line) and one CRT projctor, and the picture quality left something to be desired in comparison to my 1080p LCD. 52" LCDs are slowly becoming more common, and I may upgrade to one of those in a year or two....I'm just not sold on projectors. I'll be checking out a DLP projector at a friends in a couple months as well, but my expectations aren't very high.

Yea, I have never tried a projector so I may be wrong here, but I just prefer a LCD, especially in my living area.

LOL, me too . . . . lets move on. However that cross in your avatar reminds me of the one my "pastor" had on the little shelf next to his AR speakers. He and I would listen to soft music immediately after sunday school with the narthex doors closed . . . . .
