OK, here's the deal. When I placed my order I used Paypal to pay. Normally when I do that and click to complete the deal I am directed to the paypal site to complete payment. It didn't happen which I thought was strange. Called a minute ago and got a nice young lady on the phone and she told me that I would have to go to the Paypal web site and send money. I think if I did that I would have to pay the fees so I just asked her if I could just put it on AmEx and she said yes. So, everything is done and mine will ship out tomorrow morning.

OK Folks,

The link is not working anymore and I just called them and they replied they are already sold out and they are not sure if they get any more deliveries of these. So save your time and fingers calling them. It's gone.

I guess I missed out. I called them yesterday from my girlfriend's place and they said they don't ship to Canada at all. I was hoping to get in touch with a friend who just moved down to San Fran last month, and just have it shipped to him, but I guess now the point is moot. Ah well, I figured they'd run out soon on this one. Thanks anyway Sonnie!

They are in fact sold out... according to our adviser:

Quote:
Looks like we sold out... We had 150 in stock when I sent the deal out... $248 was a killer price.

I’ll check and see if we’ll be able to get any more.

I sure hope they can get more of these in. Wouldn't mind one at that price.

I got e-mail today that mine is shipped. Don't you love it when you go to check the tracking and you get that 'shipper notified' status?

Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend!

When I placed my order, I used Paypal (since I prefer the security of using it). When I called yesterday to check on the status of my order, I was told that since I had used Paypal, there was a chance that they might run out of stock before it was processed. I was told that I should pay with a credit card to avoid this. This obviously upset me, since nowhere on their site does it state that orders are not reserved when using Paypal. Since I wasn't happy to find this out, I went ahead and cancelled my order. I then saw today that the money had been taken from my bank account, and it may take 3 or 4 days for it to be refunded. If they had just clearly stated their Paypal policy on their site, this could have been avoided. As it stands now, I am left with a less than positive impression about OneCall, and am without my $248 for several days. Oh well, live and learn...

I would have taken the chance since you were going to have to wait anyway.

PayPal does send the request to your bank immediately though. Sounds like you did not know PayPal's policy either.

Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend!

When I called to check on my order the girl I spoke with said that they had had a problem with Paypal payments at times. Like I said above, when I checked out usually I am sent to the PP site to confirm payment but it didn't happen. Money was not deducted from my bank account either.
Anyway, update on my order. Tracked the package and it's actually on the way to me, should be here the 7th.

If you click on the link now, you get the 5300-ex. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that was just looking at the price and adding to the cart. Make sure your order confirmations state 5400-EX. Mine does(thankfully), but you want to make sure. Everyone make sure to check out what you're putting in the cart!

UH-OH, I just checked this thread and realize I got the 5300 instead of the 5400. Is there anything I can do to rectify this? It has already shipped.:raped:

Call them and explain to them what happened. They are very easy to work with. I believe they will send you a pick up slip to place on the package and all you will have to do is drop it off at UPS or call them to pick it up. They should refund you your money.

Thanks, they took care of it. I'm disappointed that I got in too late for the deal.

Since most of us are getting these, who is going to start the thread about hook ups and configuring them?
Yea, thanks again Sonnie for the special deal.

Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend!

Mine is also scheduled to arrive on the 7th . The power strip I'm using now is of questionable quality so this will be a big upgrade. My only concern with the Panamax is how it might affect the dynamics of the integrated amp/receiver and my pro sound sub amp. Obviously both should be plugged into the high current bank, but I'm a little concerned dynamics will still be constrained. Some people online suggest that the high current banks pass high current in name only (as in they don't perform as advertized). I don't know who to believe. I've asked around at different forums and nobody has given a striaght answer. Do any of you have experience with this unit and whether it constrains dynamics? Thanks. BTW, I'm still going to use it as I want my stuff to be safe. This is more curiousity being .

Often times units such as this limit current to 15 amps, so if you have a high powered amp(s) it normally isn't a good idea to plug it directly into the power conditioner or surge protector as you will be limiting its potential. The plus side many quality amps have internal circuitry to protect themselves from surges and other detrimental effects.

I did a quick search online of this unit and couldn't find too much information, but it seems as if it has the 15 amp limit as well.

This of course does not matter if you are running all your gear off one single 15 amp outlet.

You might consider using something like these for your high current amps.

I use them for my subs and my electrostats. If you have 20 amp circuits run to your amp, you could use one of the 20 amp models for it.

Just got mine (I live on the west coast)! Hats off to OneCall for coming through on this incredible offer. Sorry to those of you who had problems or missed the deal. I'll hook it up to my dedicated 2 channel system first to see if it can remove a nasty hum I get when the VGA monitor connected to the NAD universal player is turned on.

I got the same impression as you (15amp limit). I suppose the proof will really come from trying it out and seeing if I perceive any difference. Thanks for taking the time to help.

Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend!

I just checked and my integrated's current output is rated at 10 amps continuous and 20 amps peak (per channel with five channels driven). It sounds like the dynamics will be constrained. We'll see... the proof will be in the pudding .

Do remember this is not a factor if you plug them into a typical wall plug which are 15 amp circuits. Often times you would need to rerun wiring to get a 20A circuit or just had made sure the outlet was 20A when you had the place built etc...

Oh. I wondered about that. Looks like I'm in the clear! The room has a dedicated circuit but it's only rated to 15A.

Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend!

It's fine to plug your amp into the wall socket if it's 15 OR 20amp circuits. However, after recently addressing this issue with my HTS 5100 power conditioner, I called the engineer that developed the amp. he actually did get on the phone and told me that the amps have internal power surge protection, and it's actually not beneficial to use the high current outlets in the HTS. He said to plug it directly into the outlet.
