| Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend! What amp do you have? I have a Nakamichi IA-1Z... it's so old and they're such a large company. It would be hard to find out if it has internal protection. I wonder if the same is true for the yet to be released Sherwood/Newcastle R-972 receiver... I plan on getting one after it's released. | ||||

| Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend! Does anyone know if this was a ONE TIME offer or if it will ever go again? I have no protection like this and a new Panasonic 200 projector. And I don't want to fire it up until I know what I end up getting. | ||||

This is understandable as the 5400-EX is being phased out and replaced by 5400-PM. Hope this helps. | |||||

| Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend! Well... I hooked mine up last night and I'm very satisfied. It did lower the noise floor and the delayed turn on and off is really usefull. Since the Berenger and my Samson S700 don't have remotes, I can hit one power button (and more important my wife can hit one power button ) and both turn off with out the possibility of the dreaded thump. After I get my new receiver, I'll hook up trigger and I won't even have to press the button. Oh, and I turned it up this morning and the dynamics didn't seem constrained at all (probably since I only have a 15A circuit). Thanks for pointing out the deal, Sonnie... I would never have sprung for it at $500 and now my system is much safer. | ||||

| Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend! I would like others who got it to chime in regarding sound quality (SQ). I know SQ is subjective and you are not going to waste your time with double blind tests. But I still think it would be usefull to hear your opinion. | ||||

| Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend! No difference from my HTS to this. But it's blue lights like the rest of the gear now! When I added voltage stabilizing/conditioning, I saw much better video quality, but no audible difference in my room from what I could hear. but I didn't graph anything to see. | ||||

| Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend! OK... I have a question. I have my 5400-EX and am ecstatic. I wouldn't change a thing. It's set up at the front of the HT. Everything but my PJ plug into it. The PJ is plugged into a Belkin UPS (the thing weights a ton) at the back of the HT. It has surge protection and obviously allows for a slow power down should we lose power, but I doubt it has any kind of power conditioning. From this thread, it seems like one of the biggest gains in conditioning is PQ. Would you recommend getting a conditioner for the PJ? If so, what would you get? I want to keep the UPS for obvious reasons, so what I'm getting at is the PJ will be plugged into the UPS, the UPS would be plugged into the power conditioner and the power conditioner would be plugged into the wall. No other components would be plugged into it. Do you think I should get something or is just having the UPS sufficient? | ||||

| Re: Panamax MAX 5400-EX - Deal of the Weekend! As soon as I got everything plugged in I turned it all on and ended up with a ground loop hum that I never had before. I know they commonly come from Cable or Satellite lines but the room I have it in doesn't have Cable. Any suggestions... | ||||
