I don't see your tests for the 20-39PC+ (12.1 and 12.2) on the Shack in the subwoofer tests thread. Do you have a link?
They aren't up yet.

Soon...

How about Elemental Designs subwoofers??

Any of the A2, A3, A5, A7 series subwoofers.

They are primarily a car audio subwoofer company but have ventured into HT lately. They seem to have good quality components and the enclosures are built rigidly. They seem to be a bargain and have free shipping on the bigger units. They might even offer to lend one to test!

Re: Which subwoofers would you like to see tested?

As it seems you've gotten many of the commercial subs covered, I'd be more interested in any of the DIY subs..

granted, if there aren't any good/cheap woofers in Europe, and especially since these are all user supplied subs, I can understand if they were hard to come by.

Well, you asked..

JCD

I checked their website and they look interesting. A little bit rough and bulky though. I'll ask if they could lend one or more for a test. The free shipping is inside USA...

Since the Finnish winter is long and unpredictable, I'd say my best bet would be late April/early May.

Assuming the results are going to be reposted from your first test (which will plug acouple of gaps) and ignoring that this is a predominantly American forum, it'd be nice to see a few more budget euro subs tested.

Jamo's SUB250 and SUB300 look like potentially decent VFM. The littleun is only about £300 in the Uk.

Email me when things start to thaw out for you Ilkka and we'll see what we can do. I think you'll be surprised by how much we've pushed things with the new Ultras.

Re: Which subwoofers would you like to see tested?

I note the B&W subs are missing from the present line-up. ASW675, 750, 850 etc.

Is there any particular reason for this?

Can subwoofer manufacturers actually demand that you do not test their subs?

I'm still looking forward to your first, full, outdoor IB test!

A DirectServo sub from Rythmik Audio would be great since this technology is patented making it unique and highly recommended for a DIY.

No particular reason other than no B&W owners have offered their subs for testing. I tried to aquire them directly from the Finnish importer of the B&W, but they weren't interested.

AV Talk has tested quite many B&Ws, so you may want to check their forum.

I'm not sure what you mean? Of course they can say what ever they want, but that doesn't mean that I would have to obey them. I'm quite sure 90% of the sub manufacturers wouldn't like me to test their subwoofers. And that's just the reason why I do these tests.

Hmm, that could be a little bit difficult to do...

I'll see what I can do. Unfortunately there is only one Direct Servo sub in Finland that I know of.

Re: Which subwoofers would you like to see tested?

M&K MX-350, 5100, VX-1250 & KX-10.

There's very little on-line data for these and it'd be nice to know if they're worth the fuss their owners make, or are the collection of cheap components they look like.

Either way, it'd plug a big hole in the pantheon of on-line sub tests.

The M&K350 has been tested (by Ilkka under another nom de plum) on AV Talk.

Obviously I didn't want to mention this on the M&K thread on AVF.

Re: Which subwoofers would you like to see tested?

Thanks Chris,

I'd forgotten that one. I notice they cocked up the settings. With the THX EQ engaged, the LF distortion figures look artificially good and even then they don't look great when pushed.

I am as interested in the littluns as the bigguns. I'd like to see what the 'famed' M&K ability to integrate with tiny satellites is based on, other than owner anecdote.

Time to bring it up to date with the SFB drivers too, me thinks!

Cheers,

Russell

Have any been done on Bose? With some obvious prejudices, I'd like to know how they perform in the real world, especially since they (to my knowledge) do not post charts/data themselves.

To be strictly accurate:

I have never been a nom de plum of Ilkka.
