The mother of all Genelec’s. It’s basically four 7070A’s strapped together, but it costs less than three of them. Weighing a whopping 120 kgs, it’s clearly the largest sub I’ve ever measured, and probably ever will. The shape of the frequency response is pretty much identical with its smaller brothers, flat being the key word. This suits better for rooms not having much deep bass room gain. The low pass filter slope is very steep, but the lowest setting is only around 80 Hz, meaning a proper 2-channel use requires an external filter. The maximum output capability is extremely good in mid and upper bass range, very good in deep bass range. THD stays really low throughout the whole operating range up to 105 dB output level. The deep bass distortion climbs up pretty quickly above this. 3rd harmonic is the dominant one, which is typical for every Genelec subwoofer. Group delay grows pretty large below 30 Hz, but doesn’t go above the 1 cycle value. The steep high pass slope shows some excessive ringing. The spectral contamination test shows much higher than average maximum output capability with much lower than average overall distortion. The build quality is similar to other Genelec’s, meaning extremely good. This is a monster subwoofer, make sure you have a proper space for it.

+ Very good extension
+ Flat frequency response
+ Extremely low overall distortion up to very high output levels
+ Steep crossover
+ Build quality and sturdy enclosure

- High deep bass distortion at high output levels
- Some ringing around the tuning frequency
- Very large enclosure
