I am new to the forum so this is my first post.
I have a AVR-884 that I want to use as a pre amp to the MM7055. I know most out there will think I'm crazy but I want use this setup until I can afford a newer Marantz preamp.
My question is, will the MM7055 work with my current AVR-884?
Thanks in advanced.

Welcome to HTS Brent2219! You're not crazy. Many people want to use their equipment this way. Usually, it's to take advantage of the higher power a separate amp can provide. But there's a catch - the preamp/receiver must have what are known as PRE-OUT connections. Unfortunately, your AVR-884 has none (according to the manual I found here). What you can do is connect both for Zone-2 operation, but then you could only play stereo (in Zone 2) instead of multichannel.

When you upgrade, be sure the receiver has PRE-OUTs. That way, you can use the external power amp for the power-hungry main channels, and it's internal power amps for the rest.
