| Hi from Georgia Hi I've been to a few other HT forums, but I like this one the best, mainly because 1. Friendly folks 2. Helpful people who don't mind pesky novice noob questions 3. Lots of activity Our HT version 1 had an older 42" RP set which is now about 8 yrs old- and really showing its age compared to what's out there today. Audio was OK with a Sound on Sound 5:1 processor feeding 3 amps. Years ago we converted our 2 car garage into a "family room", and with some research learned to use a SPL to balance speaker volume. Things changed last January when we got a Sony projector, and the room really began to shape into a more dedicated HT room. Clutter was removed, made a 10x6 screen, hung curtains and created a type of stage. We really like it a lot, and I decided to get more serious with making the audio sound better. I downloaded a copy of FS5 which I found a bit confusing - then I came across Hometheatershack. I found REW and with the enormous help available with it am "Diving in". Our 20x22x8 foot room have terrible standing waves: The dense carpet & thick pad along with large sectional couch help with the high end, but low Hz is completely untamed. We're on an extreme budget (Really no money at all to spend) but I've been looking at DIY bass traps and hope to build some using ridgid fiberglass someday. I've found many tips here at HTS how I can improve the response of my system with little to no cost. Anyway I wanted to formerly say hi - Glad to have a new "home". -Steve PS The lights kinda washed out the image between the curtains so I've enhanced it with Photoshop, but the screenshot of the charging ghosts is actual. So far we're happy with our screen made of 3 coats white sealer/primer and 3 coats flat white paint. | ||||
