Greetings from Oregon

Hi all.

I thought I'd come in for refuge from the flame wars on .....oh never mind. I'm told this is a friendly and intelligent place to proceed with my a/v education...about which I need much help.

I see some familiar and friendly names on board and look forward to some positive and interesting threads. I'm an old and slow guy, so go easy on me if I ask some dumb questions.

I'm disabled, so my investment in HT/music always takes the low road, financially. But I've acquired a decent sounding setup (for now) for cheap and am aiming at a dedicated HT, near term, as the missus wants to build a new house (yikes). My wife is similar to AverageJoe's in that she's not particularly 'understanding', but is tolerant of my a/v rantings (about which she politely nods ).

I love movies and music of all kinds, but it's the joy of sci-fi movies at home, on DVD and on a (semi) big screen that got it all started.

Here is my current rig, but I've been salivating over some Aerial 7Bs for a couple of years, and all things come to those that wait long enough, lol.

JBL S312 mains
JBL J350 surrounds
Infinity Reference E-C backs
JBL EC35 center
Hsu -3 subs x 2
Yamaha RX-V2500
Panasonic F87
Panasonic 50LCX63
Nakamichi B100
etc.

Much good cheer to you all. I hope for stimulating conversation and good friendships to develop.

Hey rj and welcome to the Shack!

I think... no, I know... you've found the right place to hang your hat. We are new, just gettin' off our feet, but we are also growing fast. I firmly believe you'll be pleased.

Pretty nice setup you got... doesn't appear you are too terribly limited there.

Cheers to seeing you get those Aerials one day...

Sonnie

I'm very happy to hear that we're earning ourselves such a positive reputation.

Welcome to the Shack.

We are the Shack. Existence as you know it is over.
We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
You will be mapped. Resistance is futile.

To paraphrase another paraphrase:

Behind every great A/V enthusiast is a woman rolling her eyes

Allow me to gently modify your paraphrased paraphrase....

"Behind every A/V enthusiast is a great woman rolling her eyes." Your wife would appreciate the difference.
