Hello Everyone!

Hi, My name is Reed Hannebaum and I want to thank Sonnie and others for hosting this great forum. I am from the midwest and I have a wonder wife and 2 great children who are now grown up and on their own.

I've been and audioholic since my college days (way back when). I have an electrical engineering degree so naturally I am interested in the technical side of this great hobby, but I truely love music as well. Back in 1991 I started my own engineering firm and I had this company for 13 years until I sold it. Running your own company is all consumming, and during that time I completely got out of the audio world.

But a couple of years ago I decided to jump back in and I decided to put together a Mid-Fi 7.1 HT system. It took me awhile to get back up to speed on all changes and advancements since I last delved into this technology, but as we all know the internet is a fantastic world of knowledge.

I gradually started to get a grasp on this vast field and so I decided to set some goals and to lay out a game plan to get there. Well as they say, the best laid plans of mice and men... My plans have changed many times as I continue to learn more, but that is part of the joy of this facinating hobby.

My initial goal to build a very good home theater is far from complete, but my audio system is starting to sound half way decent. Despite all my reseach I still consider myself to be a novice in this field, but I know I can learn from all of you and maybe contribute a little myself.

I am sorry if I have been long winded, but I am truely looking forward to being a member of this group, and I hope you can help guide toward HT Nirvana! Thanks!

Re: Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the Shack, reed!

You'll have to share some pics of your system with us in the Gallery.

We certainly hope you'll stick around and help us out. It will take some time to get going but we'll get there. I keep having to remind myself we've only been open for 2 days: 1 hour: 33 minutes.

Re: Hello Everyone!

Sonnie,

I see that you once owned a 1972 Ford Grand Torino; so did I! Cleveland or Windsor block? What a great car!

Yep... I'm not sure on the engine though. It was a previous State of Alabama owned car. Mine was pretty rough! But it only cost me $1200. lol

Re: Hello Everyone!

Thanks for the replies. Well I read the Behringer manual, and most of the how-to guide, and downloaded most of the software. Basically I did everything but order the **** Behringer. So last night after a couple of beers I decided what the heck lets get this show on the road and I ordered the DSP112P! ZZounds emailed me and said they won't get their next shipment until May 13th .

Well, once it comes in I am sure I'll be asking lots of questions. Which reminds me, right now I have a RS digital SPL. Do the correction values for the analog meter accurately apply to the digital unit?

Re: Hello Everyone!

The digital meter is slightly different from the analog. We have the newrs.cal file for the analogs and it will be fairly close for the digital... just not perfect. It will get you closer than the old RS correction values.

But let's do take any further discussion on this to the BFD | REW forum so that it can be appropriately indexed... thanks!
