Hi, I'm Jim. I stumbled across this site while looking for room measurement software. I downloaded REW, borrowed a USB sound card and I'm waiting on delivery of a CM-140.

My two main goals for the foreseeable future are improving my room acoustics and building my own speakers. I had a moment of clarity when I rearranged my room and suddenly learned what imaging and soundstage meant. I just finished designing an audio rack which I will build in the near future to get my components away from my speakers. After that comes building speakers and getting some quality stands.

Thanks, I should also mention that room treatments are in my near future. That's why I was interested in REW.

My receiver has EQ but I'm not planning to use it immediately, if at all. My room needs a little more taming before I consider equalizing.

I recognize the user name. I'm here for similar reasons and it looks like the first thing I need to do in order to play with REW is talk my girlfriend into buying a laptop.

What kind of sound card are you using?

I have a M-Audio Audiophile2496 that I borrowed from a co-worker. I haven't hooked it up yet. I needed something that works with Linux and Scott managed to get it working under the same version of Ubuntu that I'm running.
