OK, here we go....this is my newbie/ first time/ howdy post. I'm a work-at-home Electronics Technician and mostly do notebook/ laptop computers for fun & profit. Been an "audiophile" since the late 60's then got into Home Theater when I was invited to someone's new home in N. Georgia. They told me the house was, basically, built around the theater. There are few words to describe this: huge room w/ perfect acoustics, overhead HD projector, Martin Logan electrostatic speaker mains, mostly Sunfire equipment. Very humbeling experience and yet so astounding! Over the air HDTV projected onto a, I don't know, 30 foot diag. screen and programs from Atlanta.
I drove home to my shack on the edge of a swamp and thought, "Hey, I can do that!" So, It's not an acoustically designed high-end setup but I get over the air HDTV so clear I can see the pores on their skin and heavy make-up on newscasters faces; hey, this is cool! The sound on Austin City Limits is WOW when they decide to air it. And, I just got an HD-DVD real cheap 'cause they're history but with NetFlix it's a big improvement due to upconverting.
Well, that's something about my experience. Hope to get to know some of you shack-mates over time.
