| Sonnie, Well, Praise the Lord, Praise the lord, Praise ye the Lord. My name is Gregory Thorne, and I love music, and the equipment that reproduces it. As of 11 years ago, I gave my life to the Lord, and have been blessed, baptized in the water, tongue talking in Jesus name!! The music bug hit me in high school, listening to my friends 4 channel rig. (Remember quadrophonic sound and the matrix decoders??!!). Its now Circuit City, but then it was Lafayette. My first system, which I purchased myself, was a Lafayette integrated amplifier, two Criterion speakers, and a lovely Dual 1229 turntable with a Shure V15 Type III cartridge, which I purchased from Harvey Sound on 45th and 5th Avenue, for those of you who know downtown New York in Manhattan. Likewise, I purchased the KOSS Pro 4AA quad headphones. Heavy as , but great sound with volume controls on the ear pieces. From there, my parents bought me after graduating college, the Apt Holman amp and preamp combo. To go along with a pair of BOSE 901 Series IV speakers, which I actually won at the then Stereo Hi-Hi Show at the Statler Hilton Hotel in New York. Currently, I`m in the enviable, or not so enviable position, depending on how you see it, of starting from scratch again. My daughter is a junior in College (saved as well!!), and with life`s challenges, that is where I am system wise. I`m seriously considering getting a top notch headphone system from the guys at Headroom, until I can do what I really want to do. However the passion and desire is still here. Sonnie, I`m also the gentleman Jerry Del Colliano told you about. I was a Moderator for him. Great guy Jerry. So I`m definitely looking forward to posting on this forum, and enjoying talking about high end equipment. My tastes in music are primarily Jazz (standard and contemporary), Motown and soul music, Classical (Bruckner, Mahler, Soundtracks), and soft rock like Chicago, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Traffic, Yes, Rare Earth, Santana, Jimi Hendrix. Well, I look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks, Greg Thorne ( deacongreg) | ||||
