Hello from Devon.

Hello to you all,

I live in a small village in Devon (UK) and spend my spare time either cutting up bits of wood in the hope of making some furniture, or I fiddle with my sound system trying to extract the best sound.

My sound system consists of a laptop using Foobar2000 to feed an EDIROL UA-25 USB audio capture box that in turn hooks up to a Meridian 551 amplifier and Proac Response 1SC speakers.

Am presently having problems with sound capture (I have an ECM8000 mic and RS SPL meter), so until I have fixed that problem I am trying to do things manually by importing measurements and generating filters. The REW product seems not to have been designed for frequencies above 200hz, though that may be a misunderstanding on my part.

Anyway, I shall try not to ask too many dumb questions.

Regards, Peter.

Hello Peter from Devon and welcome to the Shack!

Very interesting setup you got... a different style HTPC so to speak. Neato!

REW is full range... we generally use it here for subwoofers measurements and thus we use graphs axis limits set from 10hz/15hz to 200hz. I have used it on several occasions with my ECM8000 to measure full range.

It would take a lot for a question to be dumb here at the Shack... we might call them "simple" to some of the more knowledgeable, but we have a common understanding and realize not everyone knows everything and we all start out knowing nothing. Hope I said that right.

Aw, Sonnie asks dumb questions all the time...

Welcome MixedHerbs. You will find that this is a great place to learn, not a lot of big egos here, and most of us don't know everything like on some forums. You can probably share some good info about that system. Sounds interesting.
