FNQ = Far North Queensland = the pointy bit NE in Oz. Sub-tropical, the wet is approaching; major equipment hassles include high humidity, power supply hits and brown-outs, and several species of ant that seem attracted to power usage.

It's not a straw hut scenario; rural residential close to but not in the rainforest.

For high-tech purchases and HD discs, eBay is our friend (or was up until the Aussie dollar took it on the chin).

I'm trundling along bootstrapping my equipment when the mood, money and whim intersect - but have found it difficult to replace the Elite, even though it should be trashed by a 1080p screen...

I have a project installing whole-house audio in a friend's renovation, so have picked a few bits of A-Bus to play with, and some wall-mount speakers (now I need to define the wall

); her needs are less audio/videophile and more convenience.
