| Hello from Atlanta, GA I'm a software engineer working in the insurance industry. Let me tell you, that is exciting stuff. ![]() Anyways, I purchased a house a little over a month ago and immediately started work on a home theater. Having just purchased a new house, finances are a little tight at the moment, so I am planning on going slow as time and money allows. I am a single guy, so no wife means nobody to tell me I'm crazy and can't do stuff. I started off with an infinite baffle subwoofer project, because I like my bass and wanted to see what all the hoopla is about. I started out modest with 4 of the Parts Express IB15 subs, the Behringer A500 amp, and Behringer DSP1124P EQ. Its installed and working, and I have begun taking measurments of the in room response. It sounds pretty good, but I have two terrible nulls at the main seating position. I guess my next project will be to start building bass traps. I'm hoping this will satisfy me long enough to finish the rest of the theater, but something tells me I'll be going a little more extreme with better subs and a much more powerfull amp later on down the road. ![]() | |||

| Re: Hello from Atlanta, GA I'll take some pictures soon, it is still a little rough around the edges (literally). I need to finish it up with at least some trim, and I might do a full speaker grill for it. As for the rest of the theater, its already an interesting "before and after", because it was completely white originally. White ceiling, white walls, white carpet. I've got a black ceiling now and grey walls. It still has the white carpet, but that will certainly be changed eventually. | |||

| Re: Hello from Atlanta, GA Kevin- Welcome to the Shack. Keep us posted on your progress. The rest of us can learn much from individual projects such as yours. All I need is a free room to turn into a theater/listening room . If you're a Braves fan, here's hoping for a better season next year.Welcome, Mark | |||

| Re: Hello from Atlanta, GA I was living in an apartment previously, and I can literally say that the desire for a theater is what made me decide to buy a house. So I was very specific in looking for a house that had a room that could be adapted for that use. When I chose my house, the idea of IB hadn't crossed my mind yet, I happend across that idea by chance shortly after I moved. Luckily things worked out where I also had a good setup to implement an IB in. Yes, I am a Braves fan, and was watching religiously earlier in the season. Even after they started doing really poorly, I kept watching, not wanting to miss the comeback! But, I think I've finally given up. | |||
