| Hello from Toronto Canada I stumbled on this site looking for acoustic treatment strategies on the RealTrap web site, and I am already impressed. I am a new audiophile and have spent a bit of money upgrading my two channel system. For those who are interested, I have tried to keep my equipment mostly built in Canada, so I have a Bryston BCD-1 feeding a Bryston BP26 which in turn supplies a Bryston 14BST into B&W804S speakers. Also have a Pro-Ject 2Xperience turntable with ortofon 2M Black moving magnet cartridge. We are moving to a house from my downtown condo, and I will have a dedicated room 28x12.2x7 feet, which I am sure will need careful speaker placement and room acoustic treatments. Hence RealTrap and then this forum. I am buying a new soundcard and will be downloading REW to be able to make informed decisions. I am sure I will need help in setting up and interpreting the results. Thanks for reading. ![]() | ||||

| Re: Hello from Toronto Canada Great to have you in the Shack, Tor! Note that we have now begun moving vendors to the new pull down option at the top of the forum pages. You will find it between "Shack Shopping" and "Glossary". This will represent a great improvement in the vendor reference database, making it easier than ever to find what you are looking for. Contact me with any suggested entries, category recommendations, or additional information about the vendors that we have. If you are a vendor and want your company listed, there is an option to provide us with the information. | ||||

| Re: Hello from Toronto Canada Yes, it should be fun. I just ordered my SPL meter and the soundcard. I am hoping to get away without having to add a subwoofer. I am going to use the Cardas magic 1.618 ratio to set up the speakers and then start from there. I am considering making my own bass traps and am sourcing rigid fiberglass similar to OC703 and 705. Tweaking is 50% of the fun. | ||||

| Re: Hello from Toronto Canada You might be right Tony. I have an old Cerwin Vega 10' subwoofer that I could use, but the woofer's sound is bloated compared to the bass response of my B&W804S. The other thing is that I only my system for music in a 2 channel system and the the B&W goes down to 38Hz, which is fine for most music (I listen to jazz and classical). Interestingly the subwoofer that I have goes down to only 34Hz in its +/- 3dB range. So, I'll try positioning and bass traps etc to get a nice deep but well-defined bass. If it fails, I will have to start saving for a good quality subwoofer. | ||||

| Re: Hello from Toronto Canada You have very good speakers, My Missions go down to 32Hz but I still noticed a huge difference once I added my sub. By the way, I also love Jazz. A good portion of my CD collection is Jazz. I prefer Jazz fusion, Lee Ritenour, Fourplay, Flim and the BBs etc. Home theater: Onkyo TXSR805, Samson Servo 4120 4 ch amp bridged @240wattsX2 Two Channel system: Yamaha RXV995, Mission 764i's, Yamaha YST FSW100 sub My Webpage | ||||
