Welcome Jim!

Ooh, I remember training wheels. It sure was fun to go shopping and do research for the equipment at the next level! Don't worry, we won't let you fall down!

If you are not careful, you will be going faster than a hillbilly chasing his roadkill dinner! (That was bad humor for Sonnie) Ok, just kidding, but it can get very expensive really fast. Just create a budget and try and stick with it. Try NOT to listen to things out of your price range. Ignorance can be bliss, unless of course, you read forums like this.

HA HA Jeff... sounds yummy!

Hello Jim and welcome to the Shack!

I didn't know we could take our training wheels off... lol. I suspect I'll keep mine on a while longer myself. Seems like it's a never ending process of learning... for me anyway.

Thanks all,

Sonnie, nice site. It's nice to see another Southern boy playin' on the Net. I own OdyClub.com and a few others myself.

Wayne, I'm glad to see someone local that I can bounce ideas off of ... or have drive me to the emergency room during a DIY adventure.

Re: Hi from Houston, TX

I updated my profile, but here's what I have so far:

Sony KDF-E50A10
Yamaha RX-V450
JBL NSP-1

The Sony is staying, but the rest will be rotated out over the next year or so. A sub is first on the project list. I have a relatively large living room because it opens up to the dining area, etc. I'm thinking a 15" sub or a pair of 12".

I'll have the floorplan and pics of the room sometime this weekend if I can get motivated.

Oh yeah ... I'm "FlashJim" over on AVSForum and HTGuide too.

Re: Hi from Houston, TX

You got a nice site yourself Jim. You must have everyone that owns an Odyssey in your forum there.

Several of us use to hang our hat at HTGuide and of course I think we all still stop by AVS all along. That place is just sooooo big.

Are you going to do the DIY sub route or buy straight up?

Re: Hi from Houston, TX

Thanks. OdyClub has been a lot of fun.

I'll be DIY'ing it on the sub(s) mains and CC. At least that's the plan for now. I'm about to order my measurement equipment before I decide on which speakers to build. I have never even considered buying something off the shelf. I like to tinker.
