Hello from Upstate N.Y.

Hello to all.
Just joined after learning of this forum in another forum.
I'm here to live and learn. I'm in the process of upgrading my home theater and am finding that technologies and capabilities have come a long way since the last time I did this !!!
I'm not much of a DIYer, but I try to be competent and knowledgable hooking up, integrating, and using other peoples designs !

I play the bass guitar, but I am not a musician. Been in a couple of local bands and I am a low end junkie !!
I'm looking forward to helping where I can and getting help where I can.

Great to have you at Home Theater Shack, Gene! Not everyone here is a DIYer. We have a pretty good mix. What do you do in Syracuse? One of the best service operations in the country, United Radio is up there. I visited there once, for the 1981 National Sports Festival, but did not really get to see much of the place.

If the truth be known, I'm actually from about 30 minutes North of Syracuse in Oswego. No one has heard of that, so I "say" Syracuse. Oswego does have a college and 3 nuclear plants, so if you want to find me, just drive North and look for the glow

Plus, I'm a huge SU fan!
lcaillo : I am very familiar with United Radio. They are remarkable and are about the only place around to have quality, specialized work done. Since you were here, they moved their facility around the corner from where they were (in 1981) into a large, multi building complex where they were able to seperate all their different services and needs into different buildings. If you come back up, there is alot to see, now!!
Unfortunately, Syracuse is not known for their audiophile or high end system shops. There is really only one that sells more than just what the big box stores carry. I find myself turning to the net more and more, even though I try hard to buy local. Anybody else in that boat??
