Long-time SF Bay Area BFD Guide Leecher Checking In

I'm a long-time BFD user, and Sonnie's original Snapbug website was instrumental in helping me get up and running. I refer to myself as a leecher because while I've used Sonnie's valuable BFD pointers and posted my before-and-after charts on the original BFDGuide forum, I wasn't as much of a regular on that site after introducing myself as yet another BFD success story. Since it seems that the Home Theater Shack has a lot more avenues for interesting discussions, hopefully I'll be more of a regular now that the BFDGuide has moved here.

As for myself, I've been into the audio hobby since grade school, and went multichannel close to six years ago. My system gallery is linked below, and it was quite a fun process putting the thing together and going through the learning curve on how to properly align and set everything up.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned in those early days was about room acoustics and how pronounced the boundary effects can get in the bass range. This proved decisive when I added the subwoofer almost four years ago, and learned everything I could about parametric equalization before purchasing the sub. Without the BFD, that sub was an unlistenably boomy mess. With the BFD installed and setup, the bass on my system is now very enjoyable and integrated with the rest of the speaker set.

Now that I look around here, I'm very much looking forward to learning more about how to use the REW in conjunction with the BFD, and setting up multiple EQ profiles with my sub. I'll also look forward to trading information with some of the other board regulars on more mundane subjects like how people like to align their surround speakers and what they use to treat their rooms.

Thanks for the time, and just for reference, here's my before-and-after BFD frequency response graph on the sub.

Hey Wooch and welcome to the Shack! Glad to see you finally got activated and logged in.

You will love REW vs. the old method... and we got plenty of help if you need it.
