Just saying hi

Hi,

I have been interested in home theater since a year, or so, before DVD came out. My system has gone through many upgrades. Currently it consists of:

Anthem AVM-30 processor
Anthem Statement A5 five channel amp
Pioneer Elite DV-59avi DVD player
Pioneer Elite 1130HD 50-inch plasma
JVC HMDH5U D-theater DVHS VCR
Comcast 3412 HD DVR
LG LST-3410 over-the-air HD tuner/DVR
Denon DVD-2900 DVD player (used for SACD and DVD-audio)
Outlaw Audio ICBM-1 (bass management for SACD and DVD-audio)
Main speakers are DIY Ascendant Audio Arbiter MTM's (left, center, right).
Surrounds are Monitor Audio Silver S1's.
Subwoofer is DIY Ascendant Audio 15-inch Avalanche in a 3 cu. ft. sealed box with a Dayton 500-watt plate amp.

I know, I know--too much stuff. I can't help it!! I just seem to keep buying more stuff.

Wow, I can honestly say i've never noticed anyone else but you using the Avalanch driver in a sealed configuration. Welcome aboard! Since I am a basshead I would really love to see your write-up on your sub!

If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast!
If you don't have REW, get it now!

Re: Just saying hi

Oops, I forgot to list the BFD--I do have one.

I can only compare the Avalanche with an M&K MX-350. The Avalanche provides more of that "hit you in the chest" performance than the M&K, which is what I was looking for when I built it. It goes lower with more output than the M&K.
