Hola

Hi, sorta new guy here. I've been a member for a while but I've never really participated. Now that I've finally purchased my first HDTV, I figured it was time to at least become somewhat active.

I'm from Dallas, TX, and I work as a sound designer for a video game developer. I previously worked in commercial postproduction doing audio for commercials. Two recent games I worked on were Bionicle Heroes for the Nintendo DS and Tony Hawk's Project 8 for the 360/PS3/Xbox/PS2.

As far as the home theater setup is concerned, last night I picked up an Akai 50" DLP TV. It maxes out at 720p, but I got a good deal on it ($800) and money is a little tight at the moment. I also picked up the HD-DVD player for the Xbox 360, which came with a copy of King Kong. I imagine we'll be purchasing more HDDVDs soon.

Sound system... my studio (where I do the majority of my work) is equipped with five Genelec 8020A monitors and a 7050B sub. I'm currently eyeing five Genelec 6020As and a 5050A sub for the living room where the HDTV is. I trust Genelec for references/daily work, but I've never had the chance to hear their home theater line, so I'm hoping to get a bit of input from people here about them.

That's my story. Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hi intro and welcome to the Shack!

So you are partially to blame for my daughter being a Tony Hawk fan...

Wow... I'd say that is an excellent deal on the DLP.

Look forward to seeing you more active... thanks!

Re: Hola

I guess I'm partially to blame, heh.

I don't know how much of a film buff you are, but if your daughter gets to the Fun Park area (it's the last one you can unlock I believe), have her hang out by the roller coaster and listen for a while. Occasionally you will hear a Wilhelm Scream mixed in with the passengers on the roller coaster.

Re: Hola

Hope to see you around. Welcome to the shack!

If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast!
If you don't have REW, get it now!

Welcome to the shack. Too bad you are not working on Duke Nukem Forever. Wonder if it will ever come out?
