Howdy!

Another new guy introducing himself.... Getting more into the DIY stuff, and following the flow of good info on the net leads me here.

WIP:
Multiple enclosures for 2xIDQ10d2 v2's. Testing "SQ" auto drivers in a various Home Theater configs...
Car vented box for some ID8 v3's... Just something to get me by.

New owner of a BFD to help smooth things out in the HT. Looking to us it mostly to help get the most out of my ht subs that are WIP... Cool toy!

Nothing much else to say...

Greg

Hello Greg and welcome to the Shack!

Interesting that you are using Image Dynamics drivers... those are supposedly some pretty serious subs for the car. I've came very close to grabbing some of their IDMAX drivers for my vehicle on several occasions.

Re: Howdy!

Welcome. You'll find quite a few DIYers here. Some of them have built some pretty speakers. I recently completed my first DIY project, an IB sub.

We are the Shack. Existence as you know it is over.
We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
You will be mapped. Resistance is futile.

Re: Howdy!

Thanks for the welcome all. Glad to be here!

And Sonnie, yes, the ID subs are nice. The ones I have are a bit mellower than the Maxx line, but still quite nice... More SQ than SPL, but the Maxx's seem to do both pretty well. They were a little out of my budget, so the SQ's got the call. They model fairly well for a ported HT sub, so we'll see how it ends up...

See you all in the forums...

Welcome to the shack Greg! I would like to build a set of Dayton RS TMWW's sometime in the future but it won't happen for a while as I don't have anywhere to cut wood or anything right now.

Re: Howdy!

Welcome Aboard!
I assume you uncovered REW while researching the BFD?

Re: Howdy!

basementjack, yep, that's how I heard about it... Basic progression was:

Plan to build ported HT sub.
Discuss designs, review specs, discuss at AVSForum and some other DIY places and realized I needed some sort of EQ &/or HP (rumble) filter to make sure I don't kill my drivers below tuning and insure I get the smoothest results above tuning for my room..
Looking for solutions, BFD was mentioned... Price was right via eBay, new for $78 shipped..
All good info on the BFD leads here and to REW.

Now I'm here, and need to drop some more $ on an SPL meter, unless I can find someone who lives close by to lend me theirs for a few days...

Anyway... just chasing another rabit down another hole... deeper, and deeper...
