Greetings

Hello everyone. My name is Daniel and I'm living in Richmond Virginia. I am a young father of three, two boys of seven and five and a baby girl of four months. My wife enjoys HT almost as much as I do. The difference is that she just loves the results but has no interest whatsoever in tinkering.

I bought a Yamaha HTiB about five years ago. I've been upgrading the components little by little. I've got a very easy to listen to sub-sat system now. My last little improvement was the BFD. Its so great. Best tweak EVER. Spread the good news.

I'm very glad that HD DVD is finally coming out. This is waht I've been waiting for; now I'm starting to plan for the HD plunge. have you seen the Sony SXRD 1080p RPTVs? Daaaaaang. I'm saving up for something like that.

But in the meantime, I'll be looking for killer monitors to upgrade my front three. I want more Drama. I'll post soon in the speakers area and ask for your advice.

PS - I've also put together a headphone rig that I really love. (at work) I'm an intermittent poster at the Head-Fi forum too. (note my avatar)

Re: Greetings

Glad to have you here!

So what headphone rig do you have? I just survived tax season (I'm a CPA) and felt I deserved a present, so I gave myself one of these:

I've also bought the parts for, but haven't built a Millet-Hybrid headphone amp. I'm hoping it'll look something like this when I get the time to put it together:

K701? Me too! I really like it with the Micro DAC and Micro Amp from HeadRoom.

I use my PC as my digital source via USB.
A bit of digital EQ does for headphones what a BFD does for a sub. Really nice.

Great to see ya Daniel and naturally... welcome to the Shack!

I was trying to figure out that avatar but I now see the hand holding the headphone... kind of illusional to me at first.

So... both of you guys have the same headphones? I've been looking for some... what are those anyway?

Only the best headphones EVER!!

Seriously, they're AKG 701's -- AKG latest hi-end headphone.
They really need a headphone amp to sound their best, but even listening straight out of my ipod, they sound really really good. I'm hoping I can build my headphone amp this weekend. Then they should just be wicked good.

Re: Greetings

Welcome Ayreonaut!
You live in Richmond Virginia, my girlfriend goes to school in Lynchburg Va, maybe a few hours away (by greyhound ) I'll be looking forward to learning more about headphones from you. My last pair of headphones were some sony buds n the $35 range. They sound awesome but definitely do not hold a candle to your setup

If you don't have a BFD for your sub, get one fast!
If you don't have REW, get it now!

It's one more way to spend your money on hi-fi. I wanted a headphone rig that was at least as good as my HT for music. Now the headphone rig is better and I have to upgrade my HT speakers!

Cute Dan!

Reminds me of a pic I just saw of E (N-Dawg) and his three youngens.

(I think you should post the pic of your kids first... BFD results second... )

Re: Greetings

Well the kids are more important to me, but this is a HT forum so I thought I'd attract attention first.
