Hello!
Someone once said that "Honesty is the best policy." so I think I'll go with that... Honestly I joined just because I was looking for an RTA software for speaker measurement and TrueRTA likes to blow up on 64bit Win7 for some reason! (For those that aren't aware, this forum is also home to an excellent free software... albeit with the condition to join the forum!)
I'm a member of way too many forums already including at least one other HT forum, two "audiophile" forums, a few brand specific forums, a headphone forum and a DIY audio forum to boot... and honestly I infrequently post on any of them as too much time in front of the computer quickly resolves into guilt about not doing something else these days... but something feels different about this one so I thought I'd post at least a "Hello" thread.
I'm really a 50/50 guy, especially in the constraints of our current home, meaning that I spend probably 50% of my time listening to two channel music and the other half spent watching home theater and currently the same room and hardware is used for both functions with the exception of some quality headphone time now and then on my computer (ATH-M50s or AKG K701s through a Creek OBH-11 fed lossless FLAC rips of CDs or high def recordings from other online merchants via an M-Audio Delta 44 sound card). It is my firm belief with the exception of a few very over the top systems (one million dollars worth of McIntosh for example) that the home theater room is/will very likely be the most expensive part of any HT system, at least to improve Hoping to move soon to a house that might afford me at least separate dedicated rooms for home theater and two channel but haven't gotten there yet!
I've had a lot of different gear, enough to fill a large brick and mortar store, but am always on the lookout for something new, something different... Something that might bring a new level of enjoyment to both home theater and music. I lurk more than I post but please don't take any sign of my non-involvement as non-interest. I actually like to type and can often be coaxed out of hiding by a simple PM
Best,
Jon
