| Hello from Germany My name is John, but its so common, I try to avoid using it when I get the chance and use JD instead. I have long had a passion for music in general and classical music, impressionist, in particular. I discovered this forum while looking into DYI acoustical treatments. I am an active observer in many forums, but seldom engage in them. Well, I do on occasion ask questions too. I am looking forward to perusing this site, and it connecting with people with similar interests. | |||

| | Re: Hello from Germany Hello JD and welcome to the 'Shack! I guess in your line of music sound quality is utmost important. You'll find a lot of audiophiles here as well as general issue Home Theater fans. I believe knowing classical means that when you read a speaker review that says they could "hear the rosin off the strings" ... you know what the heck is being talked about. Wayde | |||

| Re: Hello from Germany Ahhh. I'm still awkward at posting but I just discovered this quick reply. I’m headed off to the airport to pick up my cousin in about 10 minutes, so my time is short. First point, my German is practically non-existent. The two reasons for this is that so many Germans speak English, and my wife, who is not German, does as well. Still, I can order a beer or get a table for food, and that goes a long way here. Second, sound quality is important to me, but what I find interesting is how one defines quality. Is it the most realistic, objective? Or the most enjoyable, subjective? And where do my tastes fall between those two boundaries given my budget? Anyway, I’m to the airport but thanks again everyone for the welcome! JD | |||
