New guy from Tucson, AZ

Greetings everyone!
This forum looks like an excellent resource for technically-oriented audiophiles!
I'm looking forward to sharing what I've found to be true in the past 30 years, and maybe learn something new in the process.

I've been an audiophile since the late 70's (I had JBL 4311's driven by NAD 3020 amp, LINN SONDEK turntable with Stanton 881s cartridge in my bedroom as a teenager, if that tells you anything) I owned practically every decent rock LP released between 1965 and 1980, and saw many of the popular bands of 70's live.
It's sheer luck that I still have decent hearing acuity!

cheers,
Snick

Greetings Snick and welcome to the Shack!

You may be telling your age huh? My teenage system was a 3 in 1 Soundesign unit. In the early 80's I did start out with NAD system that was pretty nice.

Huh? What did you say Snick? I had a serious Rock and Roll habit myself, but for me it was in the 80s/90s. Just kidding about the difficulty hearing though...

I only dreamed of some of the shows from 70s. What I wouldn't give to see Kiss in early/mid 70s. Or to see have seen David Bowie when he was Ziggy Stardust. Or Alice Cooper in his prime, when he was loud and obnoxious.

What about some of the historic older artists who were still putting on good shows in the 70s. Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald - Yes, even overweight Elvis in full Vegas mode. I would love to attended those shows too.

Welcome to The Shack, Snick. I remember the JBL 4311's well. They sounded good "back in the day". I guess I'm telling my age too!

Re: New guy from Tucson, AZ

One of the more memorable concerts I saw was the ZZTop "Deguello" tour.
The fans lit a HUGE bonfire on the floor in front of the stage in the Tucson community center during the song, "Just got Paid".
The band kept jammin' while a 6 man bucket-brigade wearing bright yellow T-shirts busted through the crowd to dowse the blaze.
Hilarious.
