Hello from Snellville, GA (Atlanta)

I've been lurking for a few months now and just realized I've started posting this week without ever introducing myself. Oops. Breach of etiquette number 1!

So...

I'm a pretty avid DIY'er. Partly because it irks me to pay for stuff I can do better myself. But primarily I just get a kick out of creating something where there was nothing before.

My wife just let me build a new house for us (she gave me pretty much free reign - apparently that's quite unusual?!), so I took advantage of the opportunity to have the basement built with 9' foot ceilings and floor trusses so that most of the space is clear to 9'. In that space (~2200 sq ft) will go my new home theater and a few other rooms.

I'm no theater junkie; I just want a nice place to watch a movie now and again. And I'd prefer not to 'do over' what I can 'do right the first time'. I'm really looking forward to the information on this site.
