Smile Hello all!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone. I finall got around to setting up my BFD 1124 that my wife got me last Christmas. The Setup Guide was a big help - special thanks to Sonnie, Ken B, and others involved. I started out with a nice flat 85dB preset, +/- 2dB from 22 to 100Hz. Next is reading up on house curves and playing with the other presets.

System:
Elite PRO530HDi
Elite VSX56TXi
Elite DV59AVi
Yamaha MCX2000
SA8300HD DVR - 460Gb total
XBOX
M&K S150THX L/C/R
NHT SB-1 x2
M&K MX350MKII w/BFD
Panamax MAX5410Pro

Thanks again and hi to all!

-Chris

Howdy Chris and welcome to the Shack!

Glad the Guide was of some help to you. There's a lot of info on the house curve in the BFD | REW forum... dig on in! Stick around and help us grow.

Re: Hello all!

Welcome Chris,

Glad to have you aboard.

Some pretty nice gear you have, how do you like the M&K S150's? I'd love to hear a 5.1 or 7.1 with all 150's and a good sub or two

Re: Hello all!

Thanks for the welcome and compliment Mark.

Actually I just set up the 150's this weekend so I'm still dialing them in and getting used to them, but WOW they sound good. I've sold enough sets of 150's to know they're great speakers, but having them at home is even better. They replaced a set of NHT 2.5i towers that I had biamped, but the midrange in the 150's is so much more detailed and wider than the 2.5's. I knew the upgrade from the NHT AC-1 center I had to the M&K would be a big improvement, but I'm especially pleased with the width of the front soundstage.

Once I have the workings of the BFD down, I am going to supplement the low end with a HSU VTF-3MKII that I won. Should be a heck of a combo. Then it'll be time to upgrade the NHT rears to SS150's and I'll be done. Well, at least until the bug bites me again!

Re: Hello all!

Thats the way my RBH 1266's are, lots of detail in the mid range, excellent but not overwhelming bass, crisp, clear, highs, and a huge soundstage.

I'd really like to have a dedicated theater with 5 or 7 S150's, and keep my 1266's for two channel duty. Don't get me wrong, the 1266-SE mains, 66-SE surounds, and 661-SE center are awesome (but they are not 5 identical speakers),.... ya never know, the grass might be greener...

I'd imagine you'll really love your set-up once you get the S150's for surrounds.
