Car audio junkie- just found a new hobby.

Hello everyone.....

I have been into car audio since I was little (only 25 now). My daily driver (Ford Focus) has Rainbow Audio and A/D/S/ equipment. I just finished up the intall in my weekend car (Mercedes) a few weeks back. That has a combination of A/D/S/, JBL, and Arc Audio goodies.

I recently decided to dive into home audio. I have had a box set 5.1 system for some time. However- it's nothing worth writting home about. Technics receiver, Bose (aka Blose) rear satalites, as well as RCA bookshelf and center channel for the front stage. The substage is a Sony SA-WM40. I modified that several years ago (mod podge on the cone, polyfill, and clay on the basket).

I am now reading up and planning to build a new front stage over the winter- as a little project to keep me entertained.

Just thought I would take a minute to introduce myself.

Hello Josh and welcome to the Shack!

I know where you are coming from with car audio... I'm 45 and still haven't grown out of it yet. Of course the home theater hobby got a hold of me from its beginning.

Hi Josh, Welcome. I never really got into the car audio stuff, though over the years my car has had some,...odd stuff in it. Realistic mini bookshelf speakers (the little metal ones), Honeycombs, Pyle drivers, Kenwood, Pioneer, and MTX, Kraco, Majestic, Clarion and others to name a few.

Check out what some of the stuff looked like after many years of hard use,.... I've had this car for about 25 years or so. Those square things are the Honeycombs (at least thats all I've ever heard them called) funny how much damage can occur with heavy use and many years of the sun beating on them through the back window. Believe it or not, all that stuff was still working and even sounded pretty good when I pulled it out.

that's....ahhhh.....custom

I love car audio. I spend a lot of time in my car- so I guess that's why. I never was your typical 16 year old- loud subs and stock speakers. I loved true audio- SQ. It's hillarious- still to this day, people see my stuff and have never heard of Rainbow or A/D/S/ and think it's junk. Mind you, these are the same people who think a quality system can be purchased and installed at Best Buy.
