Thanks for the kind welcome amigos e amigas!

Thanks for allowing me to introduce myself. I'd like to start by saying that chicks dig me... I think it's because I like unusual underwear and exotic foods. I listen to GWAR and Pavarotti..the Christmas album was... well... fan-TAS-tic!

On a serious note, I have been lurking here about for quite some time and have found this forum to be a great place for serious information submitted by enthusiastic members. I was reading an unusually informative thread involving budget priced quality speakers which prompted my response.

See the thing is, I like to think of myself as somewhat knowledgeable regarding quality sound. In the eighties I was in a internationally quasi popular supporting (opening) band. As we all know, life marches on and despite my formal protests and other annoying whining, hair metal died. Or is there really a market for bald headed fat guys playing metal? Somehow, "Highway to hell" doesn't sound/look as cool when you obtain the aforementioned stature.

Last weekend while the warden was out, I disassembled my 199? Polk audio RT-16's only to find all drivers completely shot. Cone separation to the max. I know they're old but.....WTH? My hearing must not be what it once was as all I heard was an annoying buzz at low volume. So I ask myself, should I just go ahead and get myself another set of kicking Cerwin Vegas? Bostons? Maybe even**shudder** a Bose system? (after all, my dad's Bose sounds pretty good)

But I checked in here instead. I have done some research and I have decided that these "Rocket RS 450"s might be the ticket. Any USER input is welcome and appreciated.

Again thanks for the forum and all of its great info.
