| Hello fellow audio/video freaks Hello, I'm Darren Thomas and have been on most of the different audio/home theater forums as "Dagster" or "Darren_T" Well, I've been an audio/video freak for the better part of 18 years. I'm 36 these days Started out in car audio back in 1988 or so and have been fiddling ever since. My main passion alongside cars and woodworking is home theater. I do some 2 channel listening too but most of my musical taste doesn't lend itself to critical listening... IE: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica... I have the old school metal in my blood but will also listen to The Eagles, Norah Jones, and other more tame offerings. I tend to gravitate toward eerie female voices like Enya sometimes. Don't know why and don't tell my friends either. At any rate I am addicted to DIY audio and home theater. I love to build new designs although I don't design speakers myself. I've built all my gear with the exception of a few of the components. I've built Ellis 1801's, Adire Audio Kit281's, GR-Research AV1, AV1RS, AV2, and their Diluceo and Criterion among others. I've also built several subwoofers and built my own 3 channel AKSA amplifier for my fronts and center. My current system consists of the following: -Panasonic 50" plasma -Onkyo TX-DS777 THX receiver -Outlaw Audio ICBM Bass Managment system -AKSA 100 3 channel amp (100 X 3 into 8ohms mains and center) -B&K Reference 4420 200 X 2 (rear) -Denon 1600 DVD -BFD -Behringer EP1500 (subwoofer) -Infinite Baffle subwoofer 15" driver X 4... still experimenting with drivers -Mains and center: GR-Research AV2's -Surrounds: GR-Research AV1RS I have a personal website set up that shows much of the stuff I've built and has a diary of my IB subwoofer build which is currently in progress. www.garagehobbies.com. Good to meet everyone, I'm having fun reading about everyone's projects. Darren | |||

| Re: Hello fellow audio/video freaks Welcome to the Shack. I took a look at your web site. Wow, nice work! The finishes on the speakers that you built look great. Keep us updated on yout IB progress, I'm planning to build one in the fall. We are the Shack. Existence as you know it is over. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. You will be mapped. Resistance is futile. | |||
