Finally joined...

Well, here I am. I read the rules and all that. If I mess up, I didn't mean to.

I guess since you opened this, you want to know a little about me?

Ok, here's a super short bio I guess.

I just recently turned fifteen and I'm from Missouri. When I was six, I was on the internet reading about this stuff, although I didn't really understand it until I was eight. At that time, I was just understanding things like Ohm's Law and power ratings and only slightly understood how things worked. When I was twelve, I purchased some speakers from KLH and Bose at a garage sale and a Yamaha HTR-5740 Receiver to power them. At the time, I hooked some JBL 4311 Control Monitors up as centers, but it sounded really bad, so I moved them back with the Scott Receiver. In late 2006, I joined eCoustics. Eventually, I purchased a Paradigm Ultracube 10 Subwoofer, but blew it from pushing it too hard. Luckily, I was able to return it for store credit. Around this time, I joined AV Science. After some research, I decided the best upgrade would be a Pioneer Elite Vsx-91txh receiver. I bought that two months ago and moved things around a little bit. Now the Bose speakers are being powered by the Yamaha with the Scott as a "preamp" that switches between three sources. In the family room, we have the Pioneer Elite with the computer, Xbox, and dvd player as sources. The mains are KLH AV5001 speakers and the surrounds are JBL 4311s. There are no back surrounds, no center, and no subwoofer as of now.

Regarding the performance of the Elite, I thought my speakers sounded really bad and had no bass response, but the Elite sounded so much better and there was actually bass, although still not what I would like. That will change. It's amazing what a component upgrade can do.

In terms of music, I like a lot of types. The classic rock and alternative stations are played most of the time.

I tried to give you a little background on myself. There's a whole lot more obviously, but you don't need my whole life story. That would be pointless on a HT forum.

Hey, Arande! Impressive story you told there...I didn't learn Ohm's law until HS physics class

Someone asked for this so I'll put it back here in my sig. Keep in mind that the raw numbers are old and I haven't updated it for awhile. Gain readings are there as well.
