New guy to the shack, Lake Lanier, GA

Hello everybody,

I've been checking out this site for a couple of weeks and just got an email that let me know I've never introduced myself. I am a home theater nut and have been now since about 1990. I still have my first system, a Kenwood KR-V9030 and a Kenwood GE-7030 EQ from way back when, still sounding pretty good in one of our bedrooms. Back then I thought it was the best.

I have entered my main system in my profile, but as of yesterday, I am the proud daddy of an Onkyo TX-SR805 and all I can say is WOW! It's no $20k set of separate components but on a modest budget this receiver can make even my equipment sound great.

I live just north of Atlanta on Lake Lanier and enjoy boating, especially when I can kick back and watch a game on the HT system on it. It's been a challenge marrying both 12v and 110v equipment but it can be done.

I look forward to learning from everyone and maybe even helping someone else not make the same mistakes I have over the years.

I doubt you're doing much boating on Lanier now. Pictures I've seen looks like you couldn't launch a boat anywhere.
